New Years Day 2010

Wow...2009 went out with a bang.....2010 is looking a bit hazy right at this moment but I think I will recover with gentle nursing. We dined at Villa Bianca with the kids last night. Sari ( Balinese friend and neghbour) had her dad cook up a Balinese feast for us which included fish in Balinese sauce...chicken bettutu (slowcooked in banana leaves) Mie goreng, nasi goreng. Great flavours and good company. After dinner we walked to the beach via the village to wish all Happy New Year. The beach was in party mode...a cast of thousands with non stop fireworks. Our friend Randall and his friend Sharron joined us at around 11pm, they had just flown in from Sydney at 9pm. We saw the New Year in and caught up with friends from Belgium on our way home...fell into bed around 2am....2010 has begun in great fashion....with friends and family around us

Bali 31 Dec 2009

So starts another day in paradise......It rained all afternoon yesterday....it was so nice to sit and watch gentle, soaking rain. I think you have to be from the desert to fully appreciate rain, even if you are on holidays. We, Sharon and John enjoyed a relaxing day at home watching the rain and researching/planning our Morrocan/Spanish vacation for May this year....the kids enjoyed their day in Ubud and a feed of Mama Oka's famous Babi Guling. Last night we dined "over the other side" at Trattoria.....great Italian....very busy and noisy as usual....but ah! bellisimo.

Annette and John are going to visit Villa Bianca this afternoon...thats if our directions on how to find us are accurate. Girls are going for maintainence session at Bali Galleria, Sharon and I will go shopping for supplies for our small New Years Party....wow Full Moon tonight....actually A "Blue Moon"....does not happen often on NYE

Bali 30th January 2009

Hi All......This our first blog. We are currently in Bali staying in Villa Bianca (our house in Sanur, Bali). We arrived on the 28th Dec with Kirsten and Katrina. Bec and Joe had already arrived that afternoon from their stay in Lombok. Yesterday all the girls went shopping to Kuta, Joe went mountain bike riding in an extinct volcanoe and John stayed home doing a bit of maintainence and lots of relaxing. last night we dined at Jepun Cafe. Today all the gang are off to Ubud to try the famous Mama Oka's Babi Guling (roast suckling pig)...Sharon and John are staying home...more unpacking and sorting. we hope to catch up with our friends Annette and John from Tasmania who are holidaying here. We think they are coming across from Legian this afternoon to Villa Bianca and maybe catch up over drinks and maybe dinner tonight somewhere in Sanur with all the gang.
